MAN PUSHED INTO SIDE OF METRO TRAIN

THIS MORNING WAS STARTED WITH YET ANOTHER METRO INCIDENT. THIS TIME IT WAS THE RESULT OF A FIGHT.

A MAN WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL SUFFERING INJURIES TO HIS HEAD AND ARM THAT HE RECEIVED AFTER BEING PUSHED INTO THE SIDE OF AN ONCOMING TRAIN. ACCORDING TO AUTHORITIES, TWO MEN GOT INTO AN ALTERCATION ABOUT 6:40 THIS MORNING, A FIGHT ENSUED WHILE WAITING ON THE PLATFORM, AND THE MAN WAS PUSHED.

POLICE SAY THE VICTIM'S INJURIES ARE NOT LIFE THREATENING AND THE INCIDENT HAS NOT AFFECTED TRAIN SERVICE. AUTHORITIES SAY THE TWO MEN WERE AT THE GALLERY PLACE METRO STATION ON THE SIDE OF THE GREEN LINE TRAINS GOING IN THE DIRECTION OF BRANCH AVE.

SE MAN CHARGED IN FRIDAY'S KILLING

DC Police say a suspect is in custody for a homicide that happened Friday after turning himself in.

Donta T. Leonard, 23, of Southeast Washington is being charged with second-degree murder. According to authorities, officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1100 block of Stevens Road SE around 8:30 pm, Friday night. When they arrived on the scene the victim, William Lee Boney, Jr., 20, also of Southeast, was lying on the ground.

Police say he was suffering from injuries caused by blunt force trauma. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released any further information involving this case.

PG TEEN FOUND SHOT DEAD IN MALL PARKING LOT

Violence strikes the Forestville community. Police say they found a teen fatally shot Saturday in a car on the parking lot of Forest Village Park Mall.

According to police, gunshots were reported the the shopping center around 6 pm. When they arrived on the scene, authorities say the found Shawn Antonio Perry,18, shot in the driver's seat. Authorities say Perry was shot in the torso. Perry was rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead there.

So far police have no suspects in the case, but are asking for any witnesses to come forward. The police department is offering up to $25,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and/or indictment.

DEAD BODIES FOUND NEAR SCHOOL

Two decomposing bodies were discovered yesterday near a Hyattsville elementary school. Prince George's County police said they found the bodies after receiving an anonymous tip. 

The bodies were found in a wooded area near Rosa Parks Elementary School. They have been sent to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore.

Lanham Hospital Gets Fined!

Doctor's Community Hospital in PG County has been fined. Regulators from the Maryland Health Department have issued the fines after the hospital failed to notify them that a patient had died and that seven other patients had suffered serious harm due to mistakes made by medical staff.

The fine, which was originally set at $95,000 was reduced to $30,000. The fine was paid by the surgical hospital, located in Lanham sometime last month. Why was it reduced? State officials reduced the penalty on the condition that the hospital uses the left over $65,000 to start a new patient safety program.

Officials blame the hospital's problems on lack of staffing. "We expect errors to occur," said Wendy Kronmiller, director of the state Office of Health Care Quality. "But we expect systems in place to catch them. What we found at Doctors is that the systems essentially didn't exist."

This fine is the first since the five years that Maryland began requiring its 69 hospitals to make public serious errors effecting patients.

2 WOMAN FOUND BURRIED CAR

LARGO, Md. - Police in Prince George's County released the identities of two women found dead in a torched car in Largo, saying their deaths may be linked to the murders of two other women.

Prince George's County police officials say they may be looking for a serial killer. They note the latest deaths of a Prince George's County mother and daughter bare a striking resemblance to a nearby crime in January.

"The similarities are unusual," said Maj. Andy Ellis of the Prince George's County Police Department. "And they have caused us concern."

According to police, the victims of the latest crime are 45-year-old Dolores Dewitt and her 19-year-old daughter Ebony Dewitt. Their burned remains were found inside a Nissan Maxima that was reported stolen at 4 a.m. Monday on Woodlawn Boulevard in Largo.

Minutes later, the car was torched and left in the driveway of a vacant home around the corner.

Chauniece Jones says she was best friends with Ebony Dewitt. "She was like a sister to me and her mother was like another mother to me," she said.

Police say the mother and daughter were last known to be alive Sunday afternoon in their home on Cedarhollow Lane. A family member reportedly spoke to the women but later found the home empty.

Police say the most recent crime has many similarities to the deaths of Karen and Karissa Lofton who were shot to death in their home just a mile-and-a-half away in late January.

"It is a possibility that these cases are linked," said Ellis. "And we need folks in that Largo area to take precautions."

Residents who live in the area say they now are extremely upset and frightened. "I've been in this neighborhood for 14 years," said one woman. "I have four children in this neighborhood, two grand-babies and it's very scary."

At this time, the medical examiner has not determined how the Dewitts died. Police do not have motives for either one of the crimes, but they do believe they are dealing with more than one suspect.

CHILD PORN SUSPECT DID COMMIT SUICIDE

INVESTIGATORS HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT DON DOUGLAS, THE MAN BEING HELD ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES DID HANG HIMSELF WHILE IN CUSTODY.

DOUGLAS'S BODY WAS DISCOVERED JAN. 12, BY GUARDS, WHICH JUST HAPPENED TO BE THE DAY BEFORE THE 40-YEAR-OLD WAS DUE TO PLEAD GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT INOVA ALEXANDRIA HOSPITAL AND ACCORDING TO AUTHORITIES HE HUNG HIMSELF IN THE SHOWER.

ACCORDING TO COURT RECORDS DOUGLAS HAD ADMITTED TO HAVING SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL AND TOOK SEXUALLY EXPLICIT PHOTOS OF HER. SO FAR, FEDERAL PROSECUTORS HAVE DECLINED TO COMMENT ON BOTH THE CASE OR DOUGLAS'S DEATH.

THE VISIT FOLLOWS PRESIDENT OBAMA'S "TEASING" OF HOW BADLY DMV RESIDENTS HANDLE A "LITTLE ICE".

ACCORDING TO REPORTERS, THE OBAMAS LEFT THE WHITE HOUSE AROUND 8 A.M. IN A MOTORCADE HEADED FOR THE BETHESDA CAMPUS. NEITHER SASHA OR MALIA COULD BE SEEN IN THE MOTORCADE, WHICH INDICATES THAT THEY MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN CLASS.
