EARLIER THIS WEEK IN HOWARD COUNTY, TWENTY-TWO YEAR OLD TIMOTHY CAVENDER HAS PLEADED GUILTY TO ASSAULT AFTER ADMITTING TO POLICE THAT HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR STABBING HIS FATHER IN THE NECK.
ACCORDING TO REPORTS, THE MEN WERE ARGUING AND WHEN HIS FATHER TRIED TO PUNCH HIM, CAVENDER STABBED HIM. OFFICERS THAT RESPONDED TO THE SCENE REPORTED THAT CAVENDER ANSWERED THE APARTMENT DOOR COVERED IN BLOOD WITH A KNIFE STICKING OUT OF HIS POCKET.
CAVENDER, A HOWARD COUNTY RESIDENT, COULD FACE 25 YEARS IN PRISON AT HIS SENTENCING IN DECEMBER. PROSECUTORS DROPPED THE ATTEMPTED FIRST-DEGREE MURDER CHARGE AS PART OF CAVENDER'S PLEA AGREEMENT. THEY ARE ALSO RECOMMENDING ONLY AN EIGHT YEAR SENTENCE.
