A newborn baby left abandoned in a trashbag, died shortly after she was found Sunday afternoon in a field near the Washington, D.C. - Takoma Park border.
The baby was found just over the District line around noon in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Avenue in PG County. According to reports, the baby was discovered by workers hired to clean the field near the McDonald's restaurant. The workers saw a trash bag that was moving, said Prince George's County police spokesman, Cpl. Clinton Copeland.
The baby was taken to a local hospital where she died a short time later. Police canvassed the area Sunday looking for the mother, and have still not identified her. The baby was reported to be Hispanic and several hours old when she was found. Police believe that the mother is in need of medical attention.
