THIS MORNING, A MASSIVE WATER MAIN BREAK HAS CAUSED THE FLOODING OF RIVER ROAD IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY WITH FOUR FEET OF RAPIDLY MOVING WATER.
THE FLOODING TRAPPED MOTORISTS AND CAUSED THE BLOCKING OF A MAJOR ARTERY. ABOUT 12 PEOPLE HAD TO BE RESCUED FROM THEIR VEHICLES AROUND 9 THIS MORNING. ONE WOMAN AND A CHILD TRAPPED IN THEIR SUV HAD TO BE RESCUED BY HELICOPTER.
ACCORDING TO THE WASHINGTON SUBURBAN SANITARY COMMISSION, THE 66 INCH PIPE AT RIVER ROAD AND FENWAY DRIVE RUPTURED SHORTLY BEFORE 8 A.M. THE FLOODING CLOSED RIVER ROAD BETWEEN SEVEN LOCKS ROAD AND BRADLEY BOULEVARD.
