ELDERLY MAN BADLY BEATEN OUSIDE COLLEGE PARK CHURCH

IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, AN ELDERLY MAN WAS ROBBED AND BEATEN BADLY WITH A BASEBALL BAT SHORTLY BEFORE A MIDNIGHT MASS LAST NIGHT.

THE MAN, 69, WAS FOUND IN THE PARKING LOT OUTSIDE THE COLLEGE PARK CHURCH AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL, WHERE HE IS STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION.

ACCORDING TO SUSAN GIBBS, A SPOKESWOMAN FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE, THE MAN DROPPED HIS WIFE OFF FOR CHOIR PRACTICE AT THE HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH IN COLLEGE PARK. WHILE PARKING THE CAR HE WAS ATTACKED BY THE ROBBER.

THE SUSPECT IS BELIEVED TO BE A BLACK MALE IN HIS 20S, 5'10 TALL AND 190 POUNDS. THE VICTIM'S NAME HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED.
