ON SATURDAY, CALVERT COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES DISCOVERED THE BODIES OF TWO SMALL CHILDREN AT A HOME LOCATED IN LUSBY, MARYLAND, INSIDE A STANDALONE FREEZER.
THE OFFICERS HAD BEEN CALLED OUT TO THE HOME TO INVESTIGATE THE REPORT OF AN INJURED CHILD. INITIAL REPORTS INDICATE THAT THE POLICE ARRESTED A WOMAN WHO HAD TOLD THEM THE CHILDREN WERE HER ADOPTED DAUGHTERS AND THEIR REMAINS HAD BEEN FROZEN SINCE AT LEAST FEBRUARY.
THE ARRESTED WOMAN, 43- YEAR- OLD RENEE BOWMAN, HAS ALLEGEDLY ALSO TOLD INVESTIGATORS THAT SHE HAD BEATEN THE THIRD ADOPTED CHILD. THAT CHILD WAS A 7 -YEAR OLD GIRL THAT CALVERT COUNTY POLICE HAD BEEN CALLED OUT TO HELP, AND FOUND SATURDAY AFTER SHE HAD ESCAPED FROM A LOCKED BEDROOM AND JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW.
ACCORDING TO THE AUTHORITIES, THE TWO DEAD CHILDREN'S REMAINS WERE ENCLOSED IN A BLOCK OF ICE. AUTOPSIES WILL NOT BE PERFORMED UNTIL THE ICE MELTS.
AUTHORITIES BELIEVE THE CHILDREN DIED IN ROCKVILLE, DUE TO BOWMAN TELLING THEM SHE MOVED FROM ROCKVILLE TO CALVERT COUNTY IN FEBRUARY, AND BROUGHT THE GIRL'S REMAINS WITH HER. THE SEVEN YEAR OLD WAS WOUNDED WHEN DISCOVERED BY POLICE SATURDAY AND TAKEN TO CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL. THE TWO CASES ARE STILL UNDERGOING INVESTIGATION.
BOWMAN HAS SO FAR BEEN CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE.
